About Us

Founded in 2018 and incorporated into a 501c(3) nonprofit in 2023, Open Door Ensembles of Boston is dedicated to sharing the joy of music and supporting equity and dignity for all members of the Greater Boston Community.

With the Orchestra Without Borders and the Boston Summer Singers, Open Door Ensembles of Boston is dedicated to advancing equity, justice, and high living standards for all members of our community. We highlight community organizations through our benefit concerts and feature works by composers from a wide variety of backgrounds, including those traditionally underrepresented in Classical music.

Luca Antonucci

Founder and Artistic Director

Luca Antonucci is the Music Director of the Michigan Pops Orchestra and the University of Michigan Campus Symphony Orchestra, as well as the founding Music Director of Boston Summer Opera and Assistant Conductor of the Berkshire Opera Festival. A native of Watertown, MA, Antonucci has studied conducting at the Hartt School with Edward Cumming and Glen Adsit, and the University of Michigan with Kenneth Kiesler. 

Luca earned his B.A. from Amherst College, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude. After graduation, Luca spent an academic year as a Fulbright fellow in Vienna, Austria, where he published musicological work in the Journal of the Arnold Schönberg Center and performed with the award-winning community brass band “Musikverein Leopoldau.” 

A multifaceted musician, Luca has worked as a choral and orchestral conductor in the Hartford and Boston areas as well as freelance trumpet player, private teacher, singer, church music director, and educator. Most recently, he was the Middle and Upper School Instrumental Music Teacher and Director of After-School Music at the Brimmer and May School in Chestnut Hill, MA. He was also the conductor of the Manchester Symphony Orchestra and Lincoln-Sudbury Civic Orchestra, leading both groups successfully through the first two years of the COVID pandemic. In his free time, Luca enjoys cooking, dabbling in jazz piano, and listening to opera.
